This Christmas, we asked five of London’s most exciting design talents – fashion designers Dilara Findikoglu and Edwin Mohney, milliner Leo Carlton, set designer Jabez Bartlett, and artist Paul Kindersley – to make us a Christmas tree. We were quite taken aback by their responses, each a unique, highly original takes on the tired, tinsel-covered conifer. Findikoglu, who, as we know, often draws on the occult, crafted us one out of wicker, while Mohney created a walking Christmas tree, covered in a mass of plastic cups, zip ties and tinsel. Silver foil was Carlton’s material of choice, wood and dried flowers were Bartlett’s, while Kindersley used a medium he often employs in his work: his own body. Photographed by Amy Gwatkin, these creations appear alongside a selection of Christmas gift ideas curated around each tree by Another Man’s fashion editor Reuben Esser.
