Liam Hodges Debuts New Collaboration with Boardies

London-based designer Liam Hodges is best known for his contemporary, streetwear-led approach to menswear which often draws on modern subcultural expressions – which, for Spring/Summer 2020, meant a blend of primitive futurism and cyberpunk. Part of this S/S20 collection comprised a collaboration with lifestyle brand Boardies: a series of limited edition swim shorts, featuring hand-drawn prints. Created from fabric made from recycled water bottles, these shorts – and pants – made their debut at the designer’s S/S20 (and sixth anniversary) show at London Fashion Week Men’s last June and are now available to buy online. “Working with Boardies was really great, we were introduced through mutual friends as we were beginning to explore sustainable materials,” Hodges says of the collaboration. “Accessing swimwear for the first time was an exciting point for the brand. The print was made from splicing three different artworks into a stripe pattern, mixing lightning, abstract paint marks and a digital stripe.” Explore the collection here.
