Harry Styles Leads the Men of the Met Gala 2019 in Gucci

Former Another Man cover star Harry Styles arrived at last night’s Met Gala wearing Gucci alongside the house’s creative director Alessandro Michele. Styles was a co-chair of this year’s Gala – alongside Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Michele – which saw stars take on the theme of camp to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion. While Michele opted for an iridescent pink puff-sleeved and ruffled suit, Styles took a more subdued – but no less camp – approach to the theme in ultra-high rise black trousers and a sheer black pussy-bow blouse, with patent block heels and a single pearl earring (he had his ears pierced especially). Elsewhere and also in Gucci, Jared Leto carried one of the night’s most macabre accessories: a silicone model of his own head (iterations of which we first saw on the Italian house’s A/W18 runway). Men made internet-breaking statements on the pink carpet this year, from Billy Porter being carried in atop a litter by six men and then spreading his gold-sequinned wings for the cameras to Ezra Miller’s surrealist-inspired make-up of eyes painted across his face, which the actor initially concealed behind a mask. Frank Ocean was more understated in custom Prada, Dev Hynes went for Gucci pastels, and current Another Man cover star Ashton Sanders suited up in Telfar
