Prince Had an ‘Exceedingly High’ Level of Fentanyl in His Body When He Died

It’s been nearly two years since Prince died at the age of 57 and a new toxicology report from his autopsy has revealed the potential cause of his death: fentanyl. According to Dr Lewis Nelson, chairman of emergency medicine at Rutgers New Jersey medical school, “The amount in his blood is exceedingly high, even for somebody who is a chronic pain patient on fentanyl patches.” He also called the concentrations of the drug in his body “a pretty clear smoking gun”. The lead prosecutor in the county where the music icon died said he is making a decision in the “near future” on whether to charge anyone.
