Carol Lim and Humberto Leon Are Leaving Kenzo

In news announced this morning, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon will be exiting their roles as creative directors of Kenzo, after eight years. They will show their final collection for the Parisian house as part of Paris Fashion Week Men’s on June 23, before leaving completely on July 1. Lim and Leon joined Kenzo in 2011, after their success at the helm of Opening Ceremony, the US-based boutique-cum-fashion label with stores in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo (they will continue to work there as designers of the in-house label). “Humberto and Carol consistently brought diversity and inclusion to the forefront at Kenzo, using their collections, fashion shows, advertising, and special projects to engage and galvanise a new generation of creatives,” said Kenzo’s chief executive officer Sylvie Colin in a statement. There is no word yet on Lim and Leon’s replacement, though Sidney Toledano, chairman of LVMH – the luxury conglomerate which owns Kenzo – has said their departure signals an opportunity for a new era beyond fragrance and logo-branded products, which have since driven sales at the house.
