Burberry Stops Using Fur and Burning Unsold Items

This morning Burberry revealed that it is halting the use of animal fur within its products, with immediate effect. The house also announced that it is halting the practice of burning unsold items – a move that follows the criticism the label received after it emerged that it destroyed £28.6 million worth of clothes, accessories and fragrance last year to protect its brand. “Modern luxury means being socially and environmentally responsible,” said Burberry’s chief executive Marco Gobbetti in a statement. “This belief is core to us at Burberry and key to our long-term success. We are committed to applying the same creativity to all parts of Burberry as we do to our products.”
