Hedi Slimane Switches Up Céline’s Logo

Ahead of his official debut later this month, Hedi Slimane has revealed the first stage of his Céline rebrand: the logo. Last night, the brand posted three videos to its nearly-cleared Instagram feed, which feature the new logo that is “inspired by the original, historical, version that existed in the 1960s”. “The modernist typography used dates from the 1930s,” reads the caption. The accent on the “e” has been removed to enable a simplified and more balanced proportion, evoking the Celine collections of the 1960s where the accent wasn’t used often.” This, coupled with the sight of his first design via Lady Gaga last week, heralds the beginning of a new era for the house.
