Yesterday, The xx wished fans happy new year with a message promising upcoming music for 2020, marking the first suggestion of a studio album since their 2017 record I See You. Taking to Instagram on the first day of the new decade, the band wrote: “Looking forward to 2020! We’ve all been working on new music, can’t wait to share it with you! Hope you have the best new year!” The news arrives just after the London-based band have celebrated ten years of their era-defining debut album xx, which saw Romy Madley Croft, Jamie Smith, and former Another Man cover star Oliver Sim collaborate with Raf Simons in December on a special capsule collection marking a decade since its release – the designer lists the 2009 record as one of his all-time favourite albums.
