John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole for 10th Time

On Wednesday, Mark David Chapman – who killed John Lennon on December 8, 1980 – appeared before New York’s parole board. Yesterday, however, the board made the decision to deny his appeal for parole, for the 10th time, stating that his release “would be incompatible with the welfare and safety of society”. Chapman, who is now 63, is currently serving a 20-years-to-life sentence for shooting the Beatles star outside his Manhattan apartment – a crime to which he plead guilty. He will remain in prison until 2020, at the very least, when he will be eligible for parole once more.
