Supreme is Collaborating With Fashion Legend Jean Paul Gaultier

Following brands including Comme des Garçons and Louis Vuitton, and artists such as Nan Goldin and Gilbert & George, Jean Paul Gaultier’s collaboration with Supreme promises a look back to the late 1980s, particularly his short-lived, sportswear-heavy line Junior Gaultier. In the accompanying images, Lourdes Leon, daughter of Madonna, is captured in the collection by photographer Collier Schorr. Madonna was perhaps Gaultier’s most prolific collaborator, choosing the designer to outfit several of her tours and videos – most famously, her 1990 Blond Ambition tour, whereby a conical-breasted corset would propel Gaultier to stratospheric new levels of fame and notoriety. In the campaign image Leon wears a pinstripe blazer (itself evocative of the 1990 tour) and trousers emblazoned with newspaper-style prints, including one which reads “Fuck Racism”. Another image (below), also shot by Schorr, features artist and designer Sancheeto – who himself has collaborated with Supreme under label chito by sancheeto. Those awaiting the full collection have little time to wait: it arrives on April 11.
