This Film Brings Kris Van Assche’s Last Collection for Dior to Life

Shot exclusively for Another Man, I See White Flowers takes inspiration from the oil paintings of French artist François Bard

In January, Kris Van Assche presented his S/S18 collection for Dior Homme which, in light of recent news, we now understand to be his last for the house. Featuring motifs drawn from the oil paintings of French artist François Bard, the collection comprised of “sharp” and “body-conscious” (Van Assche’s words) suits modelled by a cast that included several 90s male supermodels.

Photographer Casper Sejersen and Another Man Fashion Editor Peghah Maleknejad reimagined this collection for the S/S18 ‘Psychodrama’ issue of Another Man. The story – and its accompanying film I See White Flowers, which is premiered here – takes inspiration from Bard’s work, with his paintings projected onto the models. I See White Flowers captures these models responding to his work, too – “One had words popping out of the art and had associations that wasn’t obvious from the painting,” recalls Sejersen. “The paintings opened up in him on his favourite things from his own life. Another saw himself as a part of the painting, he remembers a specific day in his own life, some saw the art as dark and solitaire, others as beautiful and calm.”
