Aretha Franklin, Queen of Soul, Dies Aged 76

Aretha Franklin, the undisputed Queen of Soul, has sadly died in Detroit aged 76. The news was confirmed by her publicist. Franklin, who was born in Memphis and is best known for her songs Respect and Think, has left an indelible impact on music: she was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W Bush in 2005. Ten years later, she sang (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman at Barack Obama’s inauguration and succeeded in making the new president cry.
